Funkmaster Hutchy – A Pioneer of House music, Funk, Soul & Hip-Hop. With an explosive entrance onto the North of England’s early Funk, Soul, and Hip-Hop Electro scene in the early 1980s, Funkmaster Hutchy was commissioned by street sounds records to complete the north of England compilation,the History of House by Morgan Khan. Funkmaster Hutchy has been a driving force in shaping the music landscape. As an early advocate of Underground Dance Music, Hutchy’s legendary club nights, Dazed & Confuzed, Original Funkstas, Time & Place, The News Leeds, Soul Connection, Twisted House and impeccable DJ sets laid the foundation for the next generation of local DJ/producer talents, including names like Unique 3 and Nightmares On Wax, John Khan, Dj Moey, who were inspired by his electrifying presence.
A true Master-Mixer, Hutchy’s turntable skills propelled him into the heart of the Disco Mix Club (DMC) and its groundbreaking mixing competitions. Hutchy’s innovative approach, In January 1989, Mixmag honoured the Funkmaster with a front cover!
